At the time of a sighting


Residents observing the subject are to proceed as follows.

  1. Do not approach the subject.
  2. Do not photograph the subject.
  3. Do not address the subject.
  4. Note the time.
  5. Leave by a route you have used before.

A report should then be made on the day of the sighting where possible. Residents are reminded that a sighting concludes when the resident leaves the location, not when the subject does.

Reports are also accepted by telephone on (03) 9350 4141 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 4.30 pm) and in person at the Unit office [in-person reporting suspended 14/03/99 — DA]. Incomplete reports are accepted. An inaccurate time is more useful to the Unit than no time.

Collection statement. Information provided on this form is collected by the Community Threat Advisory Unit for the purpose of assessing and registering sightings. Personal information is handled in accordance with council information-handling guidelines and is not disclosed to any other body ROUTE KNOWN except as required by law. Residents may apply in writing to view information held about them. Anonymous reports are accepted but cannot be acknowledged.
